50 Naxalites surrendered on Sunday in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district. Out of these, 14 Naxalites had a total reward of Rs 68 lakh declared on their heads. A police officer said that they (Naxalites) laid down their arms in front of senior officers of the state police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). This surrender happened a few hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state.

50 Naxalities surrender in Bijapur

Bijapur Senior Superintendent of Police said, "The Naxalites have surrendered citing hollow and inhuman Maoist ideology, exploitation of tribals by senior leaders of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) and differences brewing within the movement. They are also impressed by the camps set up by the security forces and the 'Niya Nellnar' (Your Good Village) scheme, under which the forces and the administration are providing basic amenities in remote areas."

Rehabilitation will be done as per the government policy
The Superintendent of Police said that they will be rehabilitated as per the government policy to encourage Naxalites to leave the movement and join the mainstream.
